VOICES OF BURMA

The nation of Myanmar (Burma), composed of more than 100 ethnic groups is rich in endemic cultural traditions.  Due to the nation's continued civil unrest, widespread violence, and government instituted suppression of journalists these traditions are being lost to conflict.  

The HASAN team will host media workshops and conferences in the Thai cities of Chiang Mai and Mae Sot near the Myanmar border. We will provide hands-on courses and workshops for amateur journalists as well as established media professionals. Following these programs we will collaborate with our students to create 5 short documentaries that showcase unique cultural traditions of the region.
