PUNTLAND: THE LAST FOOTPRINT OF PUNT

The Puntland region of northeastern Somalia is a land rich in traditional culture, endemic flora, and untouched archeological sites. Many historians believe Puntland was once home to one of Sub-Saharan Africa’s wealthiest kingdom’s, the Land of Punt (pr:pwnt).

Footprints of Punt is a field research and cultural preservation project that will explore and document unique elements and locations found in modern day Puntland that can be traced back to the ancient world. HASAN is thrilled to be partnering with native Puntland filmmakers Kaif Jama and Ismail Salad Osman to tell this important story.

This project will showcase frankincense and myrrh gathering, ancient Cishitic beliefs that are still in practice and give access to untouched archeological sites.
